Product overview
ATV and UTV transmissions and differentials often take the same fluid, and both gear sets absorb shock loading every time the throttle snaps open or a tire drops off a ledge. AMSOIL Synthetic ATV/UTV Transmission and Differential Fluid is built to carry those gear loads in the transmission and differential of a trail or utility machine.
At 15.6 cSt at 100°C it holds the heavier film those gear sets need, and it stays quiet on foam, posting 0/0/0 across all three sequences of the foam test.
What the formula does
- A shear-stable synthetic formulation protects heavily loaded, high-torque gears on machines carrying a payload, cab, winch, or plow.
- Cools critical components and resists extreme heat in severe service.
- Stays fluid in cold weather for fast protection at startup.

- Suzuki
Matching the fluid to the machine, not just the compartment
AMSOIL Synthetic ATV/UTV Transmission and Differential Fluid is made for ATV and UTV transmissions and differentials, including those on machines built by Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Can-Am, and Suzuki. The compartment name alone is not enough to pick a fluid, because several machine families call for a product of their own in the same gear case.
A few of those families sit outside this listing. Polaris RANGER, RZR, GENERAL, and Sportsman models calling for Demand Drive or AGL fluid take ATV/UTV Powertrain Fluid, a Polaris STEELDRIVE continuously variable unit is covered by ATV/UTV CVT Fluid, and a Can-Am Maverick R dual-clutch gearbox takes ATV/UTV Dual-Clutch Transmission Fluid.
What a winch, a plow, and a loaded cargo box add up to
Roof and door panels, skid plates, a winch, a plow, and a full cargo box all add weight, and weight raises the severity of every mile the gear set turns. Aggressive riding and rough terrain load the transmission further, and the extreme pressure and high torque of that kind of work will break a standard-service oil down and let it thin out until the gears are left exposed.
This fluid answers that with film strength that stands up to pressure and protects heavily loaded, high-torque gears and bearings in the most severe operating conditions. In the ASTM D4172 four-ball wear test, run at 150°C, 1,800 rpm, and a 40 kg load for one hour, it left a wear scar of 0.46 mm.
Heat from hauling and cold at the first start of the day
High heat from towing and hauling breaks lubricants down, and harmful deposits and wear follow. Synthetic ATV/UTV Transmission and Differential Fluid resists the effects of that heat and cools critical components, which is the behavior that counts on a machine working through a long afternoon.
At the other end of the range the formula pours at -43°C (-45°F) and carries a viscosity index of 136, so it stays fluid on a cold morning and holds its thickness steadily as the gear case warms. That spread covers a machine that plows in January and hauls in August.
Why the foam result matters in a gear case
Gears spinning in a sump whip air into the oil, and oil that has turned to foam does not carry a load the way liquid oil does. A gear fluid that foams badly gives up part of the film that keeps the tooth faces apart, right when the gear set is working hardest.
In ASTM D892, the standard foaming test, this fluid returned 0/0/0, a clean result at every stage of the test. That is a number worth checking on any fluid going into a shared transmission and differential case, since one sump is doing the work of two.

Details and questions
Does one ATV/UTV fluid cover transmission and differential service?
When the machine design and the AMSOIL application listing call for this product in both sumps, yes. Some machines use different fluids front to rear. Confirm each sump in the AMSOIL vehicle lookup guide before ordering.
Which machines use this fluid?
ATV and UTV transmissions and differentials, including machines made by Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Can-Am, and Suzuki. Polaris machines calling for Demand Drive or AGL fluid take ATV/UTV Powertrain Fluid instead.
Does this fluid go in the CVT housing too?
No. The belt-drive housing on a CVT machine is a separate compartment served by ATV/UTV CVT Fluid, and a dual-clutch gearbox takes ATV/UTV Dual-Clutch Transmission Fluid. This product is for the transmission and differential gear sets.
Will it hold up with a plow, winch, or loaded cargo box?
The synthetic formula holds its thickness under load and protects heavily loaded, high-torque gears, and at 15.6 cSt at 100°C it carries the heavier film those gear sets need.
How often should ATV and UTV gear fluid be changed?
Follow the original equipment manufacturer's oil change recommendation. Order AMSOIL Synthetic ATV/UTV Transmission and Differential Fluid online in quart bottles, Easy-Packs, or cases of 12.
Does running it void the factory warranty?
No. The fluid is Warranty Secure, so running it keeps the factory warranty intact.
